Entrepreneur Erin Casey tells us How it all Began
Erin Elaine Casey is a communication expert, professional writer, and editor based in Halifax. Erin has worked in women's issues, housing, literacy, arts and culture, education, academic success, and health. For seven years, she has run her own communication consulting business serving the higher education, business, not-for-profit, and government sectors, as well as individual authors. Her mission? To spread the gospel of effective and clear communication so we can all connect with the people, services, products, and information we need.
You might also recognize Erin as the “Period Lady” — her Dignity. Period. campaign raised awareness about period poverty and facilitated the collection of more than 120,000 menstrual hygiene items across Nova Scotia since September 2018. In 2019, Erin co-founded and co-chaired the Period Poverty Summit, a one-day conference that attracted participants and presenters from across Canada.
As a family violence prevention advocate, Erin appeared as on-screen host of the PEI Family Violence Prevention Services series Make it Your Business: six videos that guide bystanders in safe and appropriate interventions when witnessing signs of family violence at work or in public. She has also served on the board of QueenPins, which is where she met me!
