Design Thinking: Nithin Jacob Eapen on how design has taken him across the world

Dalene Allen Season 9 Episode 13

Nithin Jacob Eapen is a product designer, educator, and creative thinker with over a decade of global experience. His journey spans vibrant cities like Milan, Bangalore, Dubai, and Kuwait City, where I’ve designed everything from consumer products and furniture to digital experiences, branding, and interiors. Currently based in Halifax, Canada, He is the Founder and Design Director of Handyield Designs, a product design studio focused on creating innovative, user-centered, and sustainable solutions. He also co-founded 360 Magic Labs, an agency that blends event planning and social media marketing to help brands grow through memorable experiences.

He believes that design is a language — if you know how to speak it, you can create products that resonate with people and solve real-world problems. His approach to design goes beyond aesthetics; it’s about balancing innovation, functionality, and sustainability. He sees design as a bridge between an idea and a product that people love to use and enjoys working closely with clients to turn their concepts into market-ready, manufacturable solutions.

Teaching has also played a significant role in his life. As a faculty member at prestigious design institutions like NIFT and Saintgits Design School, He found joy in mentoring future designers and helping them pivot from conventional thinking to a designer’s mindset.

Today, whether he’s leading a project at Handyield Designs, crafting a brand experience at 360 Magic Labs, or simply sketching ideas over a cup of coffee, his goal remains the same: to create meaningful, human-centred designs. He is always curious, learning, and eager to connect with others who share a passion for creativity and innovation.
